The bride wore blue.
The bridesmaids carried books not bouquets and groomsmen had beers.
The ceremony was a re-enactment skit of their relationship
The reception was in the “Man Cave”.
The guests played pac-man and enjoyed a fire.
They didn’t just walk the aisle, they blazed their own trail and won my heart!
…and if you are curious, their ceremony skit is at the bottom of the post!
Ceremony went just like this:
Officiant (Catherine) : They met in June 2010.
Erin: Hi, I’m Erin! Today’s my first day working here and I guess you’re gonna show me around.
Nick: I’m Nick! I guess I’ll start by showing you where to access the department files…
Catherine: Erin tried to pay close attention to Nick’s instructions, but, let’s be honest, she was more interested in scoping out the cute guy she’d be working with on a daily basis. [Short pause] Over the next six months, Erin and Nick became work friends; they both loved hiking, so they chatted about the hikes they’d done, and they exchanged book and music recommendations. One day at the end of December 2010, Erin asked Nick if he wanted to go on a hike with her.
Erin: I’m thinking of hiking the back of Cowles this weekend. You can come if you want.
Nick: Sounds fun. I’ll let you know.
Catherine: Nick wasn’t sure if Erin invited him to be nice, or if she actually wanted to hike with him. He found her phrasing ambiguous: “You can come if you want” hardly screams “I actually want you to come hiking with me.” However, Nick wanted to hike that weekend so he texted Erin the day before she planned to go.
Nick: Still planning on hiking tomorrow?
Erin: Yeah. Going around 9 in the morning.
Nick: Mind if I come?
Erin: Not at all! [Short pause] I wanted Nick to come the whole time, but I played it cool because I didn’t want him to think I liked him.
Catherine: The next morning they hiked and then ate burgers at The Linkery in North Park.
Erin: We should hike again next weekend.
Nick: I agree.
Catherine: Two years later, on December 26, 2012, Nick proposed to Erin at the Space Needle. [Short pause] Fast forward to the present day, Erin, do you want to marry Nick?
Erin: Yes, I do.
Catherine: Nick, do you want to marry Erin?
Nick: Yes, I do.
Catherine: In that case, let’s exchange rings
[Nick and Erin exchange bling.]
Catherine: Looks like you’re now wife and husband. How about a kiss?
[Erin and Nick kiss, G-rated style.]
