Clarity
One of the first things to consider when you are eloping is to take the time to envision what your heart’s desire is, not just what you have seen done in other places. Think about the feelings you want to be conveyed at your shoot and what environments would evoke those feelings? Below are few topics to get you thinking in the right direction!
- Do you want wind in your hair and sand under your feet?
- Did you envision a backdrop of Little Italy with cobblestone?
- Were you envisioning a stunning background with mountains and a lake?
Having this type of vision in mind will really help you and your photographer come up with a fantastic location.
Adventure Elopement Logistics
Don’t feel afraid to think outside the box and incorporate traveling within your elopement shoot! Hiring the best vendors will ensure that you accomplish the goals that you have in mind. “Crazy” logistics end up stopping so many people from doing what they dream of. The ones that aren’t afraid to hike a little, get their dress dirty a little, or step outside of their comfort zones are the ones who felt that their experience was totally worth it! It totally shows in the story of those final photos too!
If you feel like there are many obstacles to overcome when making your adventure elopement shoot a reality, rely on the experience of the photographer. Ask for guidance on what details you should be considering. Make sure that you set expectations with your photographer to ensure these obstacles are easy to work through and that there are not any surprises! Taking the additional time to plan and research where you want to go is worth it and will make reaching your elopement date THAT much more exciting!
Scouting
While you can brainstorm with your planner or your photographer, I think it is wildly important to do some of the adventuring yourself. This means scouting out locations that you and your partner deeply connect with. This guarantees that you are IN LOVE with the location! Taking the time to adventure together will create a beautiful memory and make the photoshoot THAT much more special!!
This couple took the time to visit ten different waterfalls a few hours from their home so that they could see what the best fit was. Every photographer has locations in the back of their pocket or places they have been dreaming of shooting. That doesn’t have to be the only option! Don’t be afraid to scout things out before you go. Some of my most magical adventure elopement shoot locations have been stumbled upon by the couple themselves.
