If you are like me, you get onto Pinterest, hoping to “feel inspired” but realistically leave the website ultimately feeling QUITE inadequate. The thoughts of “I don’t have cute clothes in my wardrobe” or “gosh if only I could get my budget under control with one of those perfectly cute binders” and my favorite is my “I’ll cook this in my next life” board… because it literally is full of “easy recipes” that I will most likely never actually execute well…. a couple years ago I decided to make a change. I wanted to find a fulfilling way to be INSPIRED by Pinterest and not defeated. SO, out came “Closet Shopping”. This idea was born so that I would be able to look at the cute outfits on the boards and then go shop my own closet for similar pieces to create the outfit! This has also helped me shop less for a couple reasons. 1.) I have realized I have bought duplicates of similar items simply because I didn’t know I already owned it and 2.) I have found WAY more contentment in my own clothing!
Lastly, this blog series has really helped me hone in on which items I may want to save for in the future! If I keep pinning outfits with a similar style and I simply CANT put it together from items I already own, then I know that I can save up and find the perfect thing to fit in with what I already own, rather than buying similar things to what I own! My example of this today, is my new plum loafers! Last year (gasp! Yes they are STILL in style a year later folks) I saw a pair of red loafers for $100 at one of my fav shoe stores. It’s a super trendy store where styles come and go very fast and ultimately I feel like the shoes fall apart pretty fast. I was terribly sad to walk away from them, but ultimately knew they would either fall apart or that it was an impulse buy and I needed to think on it more. Fast forward to my girls weekend last week where we were out in the middle of no-where and we happened upon a shoe shop. When I walked in these adorable plum loafers immediately caught my eyes! I tried them on in my size and since they are Clarks, they are the most comfortable shoe ever!!! I was thrilled! The store was also having a sale so if you bought more than one pair you got a 40% discount! DOUBLE SCORE because my girlfriends and I all went in together and got the discount so these pretties came to $59! They are WAY better quality than the first ones I loved, way more comfortable and I gave myself a pat on the back for waiting it out! Have you had any time where you got a total DEAL because you waited?!
Aren’t they so cute?! It’s ok if they aren’t your style, but man I am over here staring at them!
