It all just few weeks ago when Taylor contacted me about a pretty EPIC proposal plan. She mentioned a hike, that her girlfriend would never expect her to propose, but that she wanted to to me MAGICAL and at the top of mountain… oh and did I mention it was going to be at Sunrise?!?! This meant that we needed to LEAVE the cabin in Leavenworth at 2am in order to START the hike by 2:30am (as it’s about a 30-40min drive up a fire road in order to reach the trail head). Taylor wasn’t even sure I would be up for such an adventure, and if I am being honest, I wasn’t sure either!! BUT my partner in crime (husband) Eric, grew up hiking Colchuck lake and has ALWAYS wanted me to do it with him. I knew the view would be epic, BUT just about the only thing that would get me up in the middle of the night to HIKE 3 hours by headlamp, was knowing that there would be clients up there waiting for me in order to propose! SO we went full steam ahead and planned to try to meet up at the “main lookout” point. I told Amber ( who is an avid hiker) to just KNOW that I was coming so that in case I was behind her in the hike, to just wait until I got there to propose! I did NOT want to miss it.
As Eric and I ascended up the mountain, the moonlight began to fade away and the sun was JUST starting to illuminate the sky a little so I snapped a couple quick shots on the way up. Then it was time to begin the search for Taylor and her family!
Little did we know that they were actually BEHIND us, so we began running (and I mean I must have looked hilarious trying to “run” on VERY weak legs over roots and up and down boulders) to make sure we located them before the sun was risen when Taylor had planned to propose. Finally we heard some voices and I began saying “wahoo” to which Taylor responded and although I wondered if I was ruining the surprise, once I found them I just ran down and said we had been searching for this spot and offered to take a few cell phone photos of all of them in order to get Taylor and Amber set up in just the right spot! Then…. it all happened!
Right here Amber turned and said “Wait?! Are you are REAL Photographer?!” and we all died laughing!
And of course we had to get #TheTonieFace in such an epic location! HUGE Shout out to my husband and hiking partner Eric who encouraged me all the way up through all my doubtful thoughts that I would even make it up there, AND of course second shot and helped me create an incredible experience and memory for our clients!
